Broadband Providers Ireland

Overview

For mobile broadband there are 5 main providers of broadband in Ireland. These are o2, vodafone, 3, meteor and emobile. All these mobile broadband providers offer internet via 3G, either a USB Dongle or a Mobile Wifi Router.

The USB Dongle can be used with most Laptops, PC's and tablets that have a USB Port. These are simple to use and straight forward to install. The Mobile Wifi option is better for the person who has multible wifi devices, for example, an iPod, tablet, laptop, mobile phone and PC. All these devices can connect to the web simultaneously with the one connection.

Vodafone

Vodafone is an ideal choice as an Irish broadband provider, there are 4 main products for their USB Dongle, each with different pricing and data options. Pay as you Go, 12 month, 18 month and 30 day.

The pay as you go options give you the choice of pay per day, per week and per month. These give 300MB Data that can be used throughout the month. This is ideal for the occasional user or someone who does not need to download. If you need a little more data than this there is 1GB data with the same style of plan. There is a pay per day option that only charges you on the days you use your broadband. Here you get a decent 500MB daily allowance. The weekly broadband stick gives you 2GB data to use throughout the week anytime over the 7 days.

The 30 day rolling option gives 5GB data. This is similar to a contract, you keep getting billed monthly for the 5GB data, however, you can stop this with 30 days notice. In simple terms you are only ever one payment away from ending this term if you no longer wish to be with the network.

There is only one option currently with Vodafone for Contract Broadband. This is for 12 month with 10GB of data.

3

Three have a fantastic range of broadband products and are the fastest growing mobile broadband provider in Ireland. They offer a USB Dongle or a Wifi Router that enables their mobile bradband. Again this is a network that provides pay as you go options and contracts on 12 or 18 month terms.

The 3 pay as you go option is a 30 day deal offering wither 1GB, 7.5GB or 20GB data. The 1GB is ideal for someone that needs access to the web, but doesn't need to download big files such as music or videos, nor sends large email attachments.

The 1GB 3 broadband lite is available as 1GB 12 months or 1GB 18 months.

As an Irish broadband provider 3 specialise much more in contract broadband with a fantastic range of products. They have 3 different data allowance options on 12 or 18 month contract term. These are for 1GB data, 15GB data and a massive 60GB data. The 1gb is known as broadband lite and currently has a one of upfront cost.

The 15GB is available on 12 month or 18 month term and is known also as broadband pro, the 18 month term has a cheaper monthly cost so if you are content with this length of contract term this would be your preferred choice. The 3 15GB plan has a one of cost currently for the USB Dongle.

The 60GB data plan is also on 12months or 18 months term and is also known as broadband Active. Again the 18 month term provides better value due to you committing to the network for longer. The 60GB 3 Broadband is currently their only option where there is no upfront cost for the USB Dongle.

o2

As a broadband provider in Ireland O2 has 2 pay as you go options and contracts on 6, 12 and 18 months. A personal favourite is the 6 month o2 broadband, this is due to the small tie in period and the amount of data available for the price!

The o2 PayG options give you the choice of either pay per day (when you use) or pay per month. The o2 pay per day broadband gives a daily allowance of 500MB. This is adequate for a lot of people. However, if you need regular access but still want a PayG option the o2 30 day broadband provides you with 5GB of data to use throughout the month as you need it!

O2 Contract Options are priced the same and offer 15GB data and have a non-upfront cost for the USB Dongle! The o2 6 month broadband looks their best option due to its short term contract. View the o2 12 month broadband and o2 18 month broadband options.

Meteor

Meteor is owned by Eirecom the largest home phone and broadband provider in Ireland. For mobile broadband meteor have some great options for pay go to contract.

Meteor Pay Go is available as a pay per day, weekly or month option. The Meteor pay per day gives 500MB Data. The Meteor Weekly give 2GB data and the monthly gives a generous 7.5GB data. There is also a 20GB Metoer pay as you go deal worth checking out!

Meteor Contract Broadband is similar to the other networks giving 12 and 18 month terms. As a Irish broadband provider meteor make a difference between their 12 and 18 month terms with levels of data. The 12 month mobile broadband plans range from 1GB data to 20gb data with a 10gb allowance in-between. A little good news is the USB Broadband dongle is free on all monthly meteor contracts. 18 month Meteor Contract Broadband offers you 20gb data and 30gb data.

Meteor Mobile Wifi gives you the same data allowance as the above, except the 1GB is replace with a 5GB allowance. All have an upfront cost for the wifi modem except the 18 month options.

Emobile is another eircom company and provide mobile broadband dongles and wifi routers. They have straightforward pricing for their pay as you go and contract options.

emobile pay go options give you a pay per day or 30 day access. The e mobile pay per day broadband gives 500MB data while the 30 day emobile broadband provides 7.5gb data monthly.

eMobile contract broadband is available on a USB Dongle or Wifi Router. There is only one data allowance on contract for both of 10GB data with a 12 month term. The emobile 12 month 10gb broadband dongle is free of charge with a monthly cost against the data.
