Mobile Wifi

TThere are currently 3 networks in Ireland that offer mobile broadband in the form of Mobile Wifi. Mobile Wifi is basically a little device which is pocket sized and requires no wires or landlines and you can create your very own Wifi hotspot no matter where you may be.

Mobile Wifi allows you to connect more than one device to the router at any one time. So while you are emailing from your laptop or pc you can download your music to your iPod. Friends and family can make use of your personal Wifi hotspot and connect their favourite devices without disturbing your connection.

Mobile Wifi in Ireland is available on both bill pay and prepay plans and you can choose from the following 3 networks, O2, Vodafone & 3.

The Vodafone network offer both pay as you go and bill pay mobile wifi plans with a small fee being applicable on all plans except for the 18 month plan. The 12 and 18 month bill pay plans offer a data allowance of 10GB each month for the term of the contract.

The pay as you go or prepay Vodafone Mobile Wifi is available for a small fee of 39 euro for the device and you have the choice of which data plan you opt for, daily, weekly or monthly.

The O2 network offer a mobile wifi device known as the Hotshot which is perfect for connecting multiple devices to the internet at any one time.

The O2 Hotshot is available on bill pay plan for a contract term of 18 months with a data allowance of 15GB per month. The O2 Hotshot comes free of charge on this bill pay plan.

There is currently no prepay Hotshot plans available on the O2 network.

The 3 network have 2 options within their Mobile Wifi plans, bill pay and prepay. The 3 Mobile Wifi is better known as 3 Mifi within the broadband world.

The bill pay 3 mobile wiif plans come in 3 different formats called, Broadband Light with 1GB of data, Broadband Active with 15GB of data and Broadband Pro with 60GB of data. All 3 of these plans come on both 12 and 18 month contract terms. To get the Mifi device for free you will have to opt for the one of the Broadband Pro plans.

Prepay Mifi is available for a one off fee of 69 euro and when you purchase the device you have the choice of 3 different data allowance plans, 2GB, 6GB or 12GB. These are known as Surf Kit bundles and can be purchased online.
